Blue Ridge Parkway — Virginia & North Carolina
October 2017 — a top-down Mustang road trip along the Blue Ridge Parkway. We flew, we drove, we hiked, we geocached. In Laura’s words.
We flew. We drove. We hiked. We shopped. We geocached. We ate. We saw some history but haven’t made any yet. Not a bad first day.
Today we hiked with cows🐄 and ended our day with amazing bloody mary’s🍹I now want a sports car 🏎 but know I would get way too many tickets 🚓 Tomorrow it’s supposed to be cold! Haven’t made history yet but coming up with a plan.
best 🍪 ever
This morning we started our drive on the Blue Ridge Parkway. I found a nice lake with good reflection along with a Kingfisher who got caught in someone’s fishing line and was dangling with its head bobbing in and out of water. After trying to not get wet and deciding if I was just going to leave him or not I finally just took my shoes and socks off rolled my pants up and rescued him. We met a nice mountain man who helped us and he invited us to come to his home for rhubarb fritters. We also did a few hikes and saw The Blowing Rock.
This morning started off cold. I may or may not have had snot iced onto my face because we still rode with the top down. We hiked a lot and saw a lot of beautiful things. We saw the sunset from the highest peak East of the Mississippi.
Well we didn’t make history and we didn’t make our flight either. Changing in the Ford Mustang for a Ford Fusion for the drive home 😂 but here is a pretty waterfall to look at.
🌤️ Weather we had (the Blue Ridge Parkway): Highs around 65°F, lows around 46°F, with 1 rainy/snowy day (0.4”).
